SAN DIEGO - October 1, 2001 - Excelsus Technologies, Inc., a division of Pulse, a Technitrol (NYSE: TNL) company, today announced that the Security Industry Association (SIA) has chosen the Excelsus DSL Alarm Filter as its "False Alarm Reduction" Product Achievement Award winner at the International Security Conference (ISC) New Product Showcase in New York City.
Excelsus manufactures and distributes premium self-install DSL filters and accessories. The Excelsus Alarm Filter utilizes the company’s advanced technology to protect the residential alarm system’s telephone interface, which is used to dial out and call the alarm company in the event of a fire, burglary, and medical alert or other emergency. The filter allows the alarm system to take custody of the phone lines while maintaining the high-speed data link to DSL modems and other networked devices such as medical monitoring equipment and video security systems. The Alarm Filter is the first product of its kind to solve several problems that have plagued the security and DSL industry, including difficulty in reliably connecting an alarm panel to a DSL line. The Excelsus filter gives alarm companies a robust solution to these problems for customers who subscribe to DSL or who use home phoneline networks. It also gives DSL providers an opportunity to reduce costs by expanding the scope of their self-install programs to include customers with alarm panels, reducing the need for costly service calls.
Larry Gibson, director of Product Management for Excelsus Technologies said, "The patent pending alarm filter technology is an enhancement to the same Z-Blocker© product line that has enabled over two million DSL customers to maintain a high-quality voice connection and a high-speed DSL connection simultaneously. It’s another example of how our portfolio of high-performance filter designs allows us to quickly meet new configuration demands."
SIA’s New Product Showcase is an internationally recognized awards program, which is held twice each year at the ISC EXPOs in Las Vegas and New York. Designers and manufacturers of electronic security products, peripherals and services are invited to submit their newest products and services for this industry-wide, nationally recognized competition.
